- The victims had been shot multiple times, investigators said
- A youth faces two counts of murder and three of child abuse resulting in death
(CNN) -- A youth is charged with murder after five people were killed in New Mexico, authorities said Sunday.
Investigators believe the assailant used multiple weapons, including "an assault-type rifle," the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department said. Deputies responded to an address in southwest Albquerque on Saturday night to find the five victims -- a man, a woman, a boy and two girls, according to a statement from the department.
"All the victims appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds," the statement said. Several weapons were found inside the residence.
"One male juvenile is in custody and is being charged with two counts of murder, and three counts of child abuse resulting in death," the department said.
Neither the identities and ages of the victims nor of the suspect were immediately released.
