Authorities are working to keep the situation calm
(CNN) -- Two employees were being held hostage Sunday afternoon at a sporting goods store in Yuba City, California, police said.
A hostage negotiator was on the scene and authorities were working to keep the situation calm, according to officer Shawna Pavey of the Yuba City Police.
No other details were immediately available.
Yuba City is about 40 miles north of Sacramento, California.
